The V-Tech Learn & Dance Interactive Zoo contains quite a few ways to entertain kids, and just as many ways to drive parents bananas.
There are a few elements to this for your little one. There are four buttons up top that feature four animals that don’t make a whole lot of sense being together (giraffe, elephant, parrot, and penguin), a large monkey that is controlled by a joystick (it spins and throws it’s arms up in the air), and a very boring looking toucan. It also features a spinner with three numbers on it.
My kid does like the unit because he can grab the joystick and whatever he presses makes a noise. As a learning toy, however, I cannot recommend this unit. A lot of it feels lazy (the number spinning wheel feels tacked on) and the voice, which tries to come off as cartoonish and funny (I hope, anyway) only sounds annoying and unclear. For example, when you press the giraffe, it starts a song that’s supposed to say “I’m a big and tall giraffe”, but honestly sounds like “I’m a big dumb tall giraffe”. The elephant is supposed to say “I’m a great big elephant, stomping here, stomping there.” but sounds like “I’m a great big elephant, starving here, stomping there.” The fact that the unit starts into a looping song when you turn it on is an annoyance bonus.
There are plenty of other interactive toys out there that light up, emit noise, and allow kids to interact with them. I’d steer clear of this one.
